On Thursday 2nd June, Mrs Robson and Mrs Andrews attended the Pride in Aylesbury Vale Awards 2011 with two Pebble Brook pupils. The school had been nominated for the award by the pupils, with each of the pupils writing a piece about their thoughts on the school. We’d just settled in when we were surprised and delighted to be asked up to the stage to collect the award for School of the Year! All four of us went up to collect an engraved trophy and certificate from Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale from Eastenders).
You can read more about the awards, and see a short video (we’re shown at about 4 minutes), here. Our photos are also in the Bucks Herald (8th June 2011 edition).
The description of the School of the Year award is:
“A school that has shown, unity, purpose and/or achievement in any field though not necessarily measured alone by the numbers of exams passed, its Ofsted report or League Table placing. Judges will be looking for evidence of leadership and teamwork displayed by staff, pupils and/or parents. They will also consider these achievements with regard to the school’s catchment area, social and ethnic mix.”
The governors would like to say a very well done to everyone at the school – staff, pupils and parents – for making Pebble Brook School “School of the Year”!
